We promote best practices in the areas of forensic science, investigation, and advocacy to research and provide evaluations in cases of abuse and death.

Our recommendations to stakeholders gathering information for a review:

  • Develop a comprehensive timeline (from onset of relationship/incident of abuse or violence).

  • Create a detailed contact list, identifying the role of each and every person that may be referenced (Victim, Mother, Father, Witnesses, etc.).

  • Keep all of your evidence and information together (electronically and/or in physical document form). This will help organize your thoughts, evidence, and information you may not even yet realize is important. It will also allow the investigator and

  • Make at least one copy of everything and secure it in a separate location.

  • Do not broadcast details of evidence on social media or in public so as not to create issues with any potential investigation moving forward.

  • If you are an abuse victim and have a computer for use outside of the home (where it is safe to use), conduct a self-assessment of risk at www.MOSAICMETHOD.com. Use every opportunity within the assessment to provide narrative information to accompany your answers to the multiple-choice questions. Do not leave such documents around for an abuser to discover them.

  • Wherever you can, gather supportive documentation for any claims (photographs, text messages, voicemails, contracts, journals, etc.)

  • Do not destroy any hard copy or online pictures, documents, voicemails, emails, social media accounts, etc. Preserve all accounts for potential review. When reviewing such accounts (example: Facebook), attempt to obtain the User ID for these accounts. Our staff can assist in discussing where to ind these IDs in screen shots, etc.

  • If you know passwords now, write them down in the event they are needed later.

  • If you are a victim/survivor, do not dismiss the potential for abuse through technology. Your in home security system, Alexa/Echo, thermostat, all online information and communication accounts - all can be compromised.

  • If there were any previous court hearings (criminal, civil, or family law, etc.), please obtain transcripts and provide any pertinent documents associated with the hearing.

  • Recordings, documents, transcripts, and all evidence, are best provided on a thumb drive with a coordinated list of relevant items.
